Wind holds for day three of Yacht Sales Co Regatta

The gusts came and stayed for the third day of the 2025 Yacht Sales Co Regatta and Race Officer Simon James was able to get in three windward-leeward races for the racing multi & monohull classes while the cruising multihulls went for a sail around Ao Chalong on a coastal course.
Dan Fidock’s Extreme 40 Parabellum again took advantage of the good breeze winning all three races, as well as taking line honours, in each race in the racing multihull class. Actually, it was a clean sweep in all positions in this class as Twin Sharks finished second three times: Blue Nose finished three in all three races; Twister 2 took fourth every race; and Ballerina finished fifth in all three windward-leeward spins.
Monohull Racing saw Craig Nicholls & James Bury’s team on Alright edge out Nils Degenkolw’s Phoenix in all three races, but it was close: Alright won by 30 seconds on corrected time in the first race; 3:22 in the second race: and by 58 seconds in the third. Alright’s young squad, who have flown up from Downunder for the event, really are impressing as very few sailors know these waters or have won more regattas here than Nils Degenkolw.
It was the same order of finish in the Multihull Cruising class as Andy McDermott’s Corsair Trident won their third straight race, by a 1:49 on corrected time over James Baxter’s Zephyrus with David MacInnis’ Vancouver coming in third.
A huge shoutout must go to Phuket Yacht Club Commodore Peter Dyer for all the hard work he has put into making this event happen. Many PYC committee members are either overseas, sick or unavailable due to work commitments, but Peter has done an amazing job of making it work for which all regatta participants are very grateful.
And Khun Jeab and her team have done a superb job of looking after all the sailors while they were onshore making sure everyone was well fed, nourished and had their thirsts quenched.
Heading into the final two days of the regatta Parabellum, Alright and Trident are in good spots to win their respective classes, especially if the wind holds.
