Day 2 of the Yacht Sale Co Regatta got off much the same as Day 1 with 4 knots of breeze, however it only built to 8-12 knots. This set the scene for some very competitive racing.

RO Simon James got 2 races in for both racing divisions, whilst the cruising division got an island course.

In Monohull Racing, Craig Nicholls and his team on Alright continued their leading performance with another two wins and sit at the top of the Monohull Racing Division. Steve McConaghy’s Aftershock is in 2nd, just ahead of Neil’s Dgenklow on Phoenix, followed by Madame Butterfly. Things might have been even better for Phoenix taking a 2nd and a 3rd for the day even with a man over board (safely recovered) in one race during a gybe.

In Mono Cruising Boyd Jackson’s Morningside continued to enjoy the mixed cruising course set by RO Simon James.

Multihull Racing saw John Newnham’s Firefly Twin Sharks remain in the overall lead taking a 1st and a 2nd on Day 2. Sharks put on a masterclass in the day’s first race. However, the star performance of the day went to the Stealth Haruki, who came from the back of the fleet in race 2 to take the overall win, moving them into 3rd overall in Multihull Racing. John Hearne’s Stealth Boreas picked up a 2nd and a 4th on day 2 placing them in 2nd overall in the Multihull Racing division.

In Multihull Cruising, Andy McDermott Corsair Trident was consistently ahead of James Baxter’s Zephyrus and leads the division.

Day 3 forecast is suggesting calm conditions again, competitors will also be looking forward to the evening’s regatta party.
