Multihull Solutions 2022 – a look back

Preparations for Phuket Yacht Club’s premiere event of the year, The Multihull Solutions Regatta are well underway. After two years of operating under the Covid pandemic cloud the club’s back in full swing and looking forward to welcoming the return of overseas and local participants alike. World Sailing accredited, Principal Race Officer Simon James will be returning with his trusted assistants, volunteers and will again manage all on the water activities.

The three day regatta scheduled on the 23rd to 26th of June is open to all multi and monohull yachts with an overall length in excess of 6 metres. To date interest and entries are being received from many of Phuket's local sailing fraternity and includes a new Extreme 40 catamaran from Australia expected to arrive in the coming weeks.

Competitors will participate in OMR, IRC, One Design and PHS for the cruising classes. A range of courses are being planned in and around Phuket’s beautiful Chalong Bay with a special selection of scenic island courses for the larger cruising yachts. In an effort to encourage local participation entry fees are being maintained at a very reasonable 8,000 baht per boat and just 6,000 baht for Phuket Yacht Club members.

Beyond the racing there are at least two social gatherings planned on the registration and final awards presentation. “After all the restrictions of the past two years we’re really excited to again be supporting Phuket Yacht Club and the Phuket marine lifestyle” said Paul Stamp, Branch Manager of Multihull Solutions: “With the reopening of the island we look forward to meeting new friends and old after the many travel restrictions of the past two years”.
