Club Racing Report as Sunday morning dawned a beautiful sunny day, but very light breezes to the growing band of yachties who turned up for the club race.
So a short postponement until the breeze settled in and the great fleet of four monohulls and six multihulls were set off on a windward and leeward course inside Chalong bay.
The 5 knots of breeze stayed in for the race and all boats showed great speed and persistence on the race course, with the flooding tide causing one side of the course to be favoured.
In the multihull fleet, the small corsair tri show the fleet the way out of the start, but size does matter, and soon Adrenalin and Hurricane had gobbled them up to round the top mark first.
Club Racing Results
This duel continued all day with Adrenalin,
in the end, posting a well earned first and fastest victory, with Hurricane snapping at their heels all day to finish second on handicap. Third, was the very consistent Galeforce.
The Monohull fleet was similarly close out of the start, with Farrgo leading early but soon grabbed by Judy, and Judy stretched out to eventually post a fastest but was relegated to 2nd on handicap, as Farrgo kept sailing in the breeze to eventually win on Handicap.
Third, was Aqua who enjoyed the stunning day as always.
Club Racing is held throughout the summer and the next race is Sunday the 14th of May and we hope to see old and new sailors to join us in a great day at the Phuket Yacht Club and the revelry that ensues at the restaurant after the sailing and the live music creates a nice atmosphere for all to enjoy.
