It gives me great pleasure to announce the changing of our club’s name from Ao Chalong to Phuket Yacht Club. It was a decision that wasn’t taken lightly by the committee however as Phuket evolves as an international marine and yachting destination thought it prudent that our name projected an image to match. A new website went ‘live’ over the weekend www.phuketyachtclub.com and you will note some minor changes in both the community and club Facebook pages shortly. Thank you to James Nichols for re-designing the new club logo, website and generally guiding the more senior and less I.T. savvy committee members into 2015.
Last Saturday night the club celebrated its 24th birthday party, a big thank you to everyone who attended and it was great to see so many Northern faces making the trip South. By all accounts it was a very enjoyable evening and congratulations to the winners of the raffle and nautical fancy-dress prizes. There were some very ‘clever’ costumes on display, thank you all for making the effort and of course to Mick Kealy and Octopus Electrical for donating the raffle prize and to Kim and Pia for the oyster-shooter ‘entrees’.

Phuket Yacht Club (PYC) has been working on our junior sailing program for several years now and are constantly improving our fleet of dinghies, our training personal and our resorces.
We are not currently an approved junior sailing venue by the Royal Yachting Association.
In November a representative of the Royal Yachting Association is visiting Phuket and we would like him to inspect our premises and equipment so we can be recognised as an RYA training centre. We can than run courses and issue certificates for Day Skipper, Yacht Masters, Power Boating, Dinghy sailing and more.Once again we are short of funds to pay for this and as we have a Second Hand Marine Sale on this weekend we would like any donations of marine gear you no longer want or need and would be happy to donate the to the PYC to sell.
We can pick it up from you or you could drop it to the club but any item or value would be appreciated.
