This Sunday’s Race to Cloud 19

Hello All,
The first race of 2016 is scheduled for this Sunday the 13th. With the support of Cloud 19 Resort we will be altering our normal format.

Racing will begin at 11.35 and we will race for around 1 1/2 hours. We will finish close to the Ban Nit Safe Water Mark and then we will all anchor and go ashore at the Cloud 19 resort where we will have prize giving, food, drinks and a dip in the pool.

If you don’t want to race but want to attend the event at Cloud 19 then you are welcome to meet us there around 1.30, you can come by boat, car or rent a long tail.

Below is a message from the management,

All participants will receive life time Cloud 19 VIP card which entitle to 30% discount for Food & Beverage, Accommodation and Spa facilities.

I will provide free late lunch for participants ie. Hotdog, Spaghetti and Fried rice.

The bar will sell Rum, Beer, Gin, Vodka at Bht. 80 net, Soft drinks will be at Bht. 20 net and Nestle drinking water will at Bht. 15 net

The winner of each class will receive a night free including breakfast voucher at Cloud 19. The 1st runner-up of each class will receive a six bottles pack of imported German premium beer “Hacklberg”. The 2nd runner-up will have a beer on me.

Do not forget to bring swim suits along to enjoy our pool.

Race 3 Dinghy Series 2015

Eligibility and entry – The series is open to all sailing dinghies, if your dinghy doesn’t have a handicap one will be assigned to you. Eligible boats may enter by completing an entry form on each race day and by paying the racing nomination fee to the Race Officer or appointed PYC representative.

Date – 11th October
Race Briefing – 9.30
Preparatory signal – 10.30
Starting signal – 10.35

Fees – Crew fees are 200 baht per person for PYC members, 300 baht for non-members.  Rental fees for PYC boats are 200 baht per boat for PYC members and 1000 baht for non-members

PLEASE NOTE: Crew fees are applicable to ALL participating crew.

Classes – All sailing dinghies, PYC owned boats are available for rent.  Boats available are Open Bic and Byte, contact PYC Sailing School to book a boat.

Course – Ao Chalong Bay, details announced at race briefing pending prevailing conditions.

Rules – The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2013-1016ALL PARTICIPANTS are required to wear buoyancy aids while taking part in club dinghy racing, as per The Racing Rules of Sailing. 

Handicap system – PY (Portmouth Yardstick) handicap system will be used

Prizes – Individual race prizes will be awarded to podium finishers on race day pending number of entries.

All are welcome to join PYC (Phuket Yacht Club) Sunday sailing races. Breakfast is available at the club from 8am onwards. Anybody wishing to sail but don’t have a boat are advised to turn up before 11.00 am and we will do our best to get you on a vessel.

Eligibility and entry – The series is open to all keel yachts and multihulls with a length overall of greater than 6 meters. Eligible boats may enter by completing an entry form on each race day and by paying the racing nomination fee to the Race Officer or appointed PYC representative.

Fees – There is no entry fee for boats. Crew fees are 150 baht per person for PYC members, 300 baht for non-members.

PLEASE NOTE: Crew fees are applicable to ALL participating crew.

Classes – Racing monohulls, Cruising monohulls, Racing multihulls, Cruising multihulls.

Course – Ao Chalong Bay and surrounding area, details announced at race briefing pending prevailing conditions.

Rules – The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2013-1016.

Handicap system – Performance handicap system as managed and monitored by the ACYC.

Note – “A boats handicap will be adjusted after every race. An adjustment in handicap number is not grounds for redress

Prizes – Individual race prizes will be awarded to podium finishers on race day pending number of entries.

Insurance
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance to a minimum cover of Twenty Million Thai Baht, or the equivalent, for all races entered.

Racing and Training

Every Saturday at Ao Chalong Yacht Club there will dinghy sailing lessons for both adults and juniors!!! These training sessions are aimed at students working towards Stages 1-3 or Level 1 and 2. Each session costs 1500 Baht for adults or 1300 Baht for juniors. Sessions will either be from 09.30-12.30 or 13.30-16.30 depending on the tide. September times and dates are as follows:

  • 19th September 09.30-12.30 & 13.30-16.30
  • 26th September 09.30-12.30

On the 19th September it would be possible to sail an island for beach games lunch and sail back, weather dependent. If you are interested in doing this please let us know ASAP and we can organize the trip.

DINGHY RACING at ACYC!!!

Starting on Sunday the 13th of September Ao Chalong Yacht Club will be hosting racing for all sailing dinghies. All are welcome to join ACYC (Ao Chalong Yacht Club) Sunday sailing races. Breakfast is available at the club from 8am onwards. There will be a series of races every 2nd Sunday, alternate to current ACYC Keelboat racing, dates are as follows:

  • Sunday 13th September
  • Sunday 27th September
  • Sunday 11th October
  • Sunday 25th October
  • Sunday 8th November
